How
long should my download take?
If you are using one of the broadband solutions, like DSL, ISDN, Cable,
etc., then you are probably not too concerned about download time, as
it will be extremely fast. This question is really more for those
that use a standard phone line and modem to connect to the internet,
so if you fit in that category, read on!
Download time can be affected by some factors that are out of your control,
like heavy internet traffic, noise in your phone line, or the connection
to your internet service provider. Of course, the speed of your
modem also plays a big role in the time it takes to download a file.
In general, for a 1 MB (or 1,024 KB) file, here is how long it will take:

For example, Weight-By-Date Pro is about 5.2 MB in size and
will take about 30 minutes to download if you have a 28.8K modem.

My
web browser asks me if I want to save or open the file. What
should I do?
When downloading the software, your web browser may ask whether
you want to save the file or open it from it's
current location. It is always recommended that you choose
to save the file to a directory on your computer's hard
drive. This way you can reinstall the software at a later
date without having to download it again. After the download
is complete, you can install the software by double-clicking
on the file.

When
I click the link or "Download Now" button, nothing
seems to happen. What's wrong?
Are you using a third-party download utility, such as GoZilla? Chances
are that this is the culprit. To download the file successfully,
you can either temporarily disable the download utility, or if
you're using GoZilla, just hold your <ALT> key down as
you click the link or "Download Now" button.

I
just downloaded and saved the file to my hard drive, but
I forgot where it is. How can I find it again?
This is a common problem and the solution is very easy. Normally
your web browser defaults to the same directory for every download,
until you change it. An easy way to find out the download
directory is to simply start another download. When asked,
choose to save the file to your hard drive and the "Save
As" window will appear, revealing your download directory.

Why
do I keep getting disconnected during the download?
If you find this frequently happening to you, you are not alone. Unfortunately,
there could be many reasons for this - too many to list here. Weather
could be a factor, because moisture can introduce noise in underground
phone lines. Your internet service provider could be experiencing
technical problems due to heavy traffic. Also, since the internet
is based on a vast network of phone and data lines, you could be linking
to several servers en route to this web site - any one of which could
be experiencing a problem.
There are also some easy things that you can check on your PC. If
you have Caller ID, incoming callers will inadvertently disconnect you
unless you are dialing *70 before your ISP's phone number. You
may also want to make sure you are not being disconnected because your
computer is considered to be "idle" for too long. Settings
for these options can be found in your Windows Control Panel, by clicking
Modems, Internet Options, or Telephony. AOL users may have to use
their AOL connection software and look for the section for modem or connection
settings.

Can
my download be resumed if I get disconnected?
Yes. Our web site supports the resuming of disconnected downloads. Your
web browser may or may not support resuming, however. There are
some good free software utilities available which specialize in downloading
files. One such utility is Go!Zilla by Aureate Media, which you
can obtain from their web site at http://www.gozilla.com.

How
does the IMMEDIATE Download order option work?
One option when placing an order is "IMMEDIATE Download." Many
customers like this option, because it is always a bit cheaper
and they don't require a CD-ROM. Shortly after you place
your order, we will send you instructions for downloading the
full version of the software from our site. Normally you
will receive this e-mail notification within just a few of hours,
but it may take longer on some days.
When downloading the full version, your web browser may ask whether you
want to save the file or open it from it's current location. It
is always recommended that you choose to save the file to a directory
on your computer's hard drive. This way you can reinstall the software
at a later date.
To install the program, just double-click on the file that you downloaded. You
can (and should) keep or move this file to another directory on your
computer's hard drive in case you need to reinstall the program later.
